Can I get a Georgia visa on arrival?

Does my country have a visa-free agreement with Georgia?

Over 95 countries have visa-free access to Georgia. US, UK, EU, Canadian, Australian, Japanese, South Korean, Israeli, and UAE citizens are among those with visa-free access for up to 365 days. See the full comparison at our visa-free vs e-Visa guide.

Application Process Questions

Where do I apply for the Georgia e-Visa?

Apply exclusively through the official Georgian government portal at evisa.gov.ge. This is the only legitimate source for the Georgia e-Visa. Third-party websites may charge significantly more without providing additional services.

How long does it take to complete the application?

The application form takes approximately 15-20 minutes to complete if you have all documents ready. After that, you must complete the DuVerify identity check within 24 hours (about 5-10 minutes). Processing by the MFA takes up to 5 business days.

Can I save my application and return to it later?

The evisa.gov.ge portal allows you to save progress at some stages. However, it is best to complete the entire application and payment in one session to avoid technical issues. Prepare all documents before starting the form.

What is the DuVerify step and is it mandatory?

DuVerify is an identity verification service integrated into the Georgia e-Visa process. After submitting your main application and paying the $20 fee, you receive an email with a DuVerify link. You must complete this within 24 hours – it involves uploading your passport and completing a brief live identity check. There is a separate $15 fee. This step is mandatory for most applicants.

Fee and Payment Questions

How much does the Georgia e-Visa cost?

The official Georgia e-Visa fee is $20 USD for tourist and business visas. With the mandatory DuVerify step ($15), the total effective cost is approximately $35 USD. See our dedicated fee guide for a full breakdown.

Is the Georgia e-Visa fee refundable if rejected?

No. The $20 visa fee and $15 DuVerify fee are completely non-refundable regardless of the outcome. Ensure your application is accurate and complete before paying to avoid losing your fees on a rejected application.

What payment methods are accepted?

Both the visa fee and DuVerify charge are payable by credit or debit card. Visa and Mastercard are universally accepted; American Express may be accepted depending on your issuing bank. The card does not need to be in the applicant’s name.

Document Questions

How long must my passport be valid for a Georgia e-Visa?

Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your planned entry date into Georgia. It must also have at least 1 blank page for stamps. A passport expiring within 6 months of travel will be rejected. See all document requirements.

Is travel insurance mandatory for the Georgia e-Visa?

Yes. Georgia requires all visitors to carry valid travel and health insurance covering their full stay. This must be uploaded with your application AND presented at the Georgian border. Insurance must cover medical emergencies and ideally repatriation. Policies from major international providers are accepted.

Validity and Stay Questions

How long is the Georgia e-Visa valid?

The Georgia tourist e-Visa is valid for 120 days from the date of issue. You must enter Georgia within this 120-day window. Once you enter, you can stay for up to 30 days. See the full validity guide.

Can I extend my stay in Georgia with an e-Visa?

The tourist e-Visa cannot be extended inside Georgia. If you need to stay longer, you must exit the country and reapply for a new visa, or explore other residency or visa categories. Overstaying your visa results in fines and potential entry bans.

Border and Entry Questions

Which documents do I need to show at the Georgian border?

At the border, you should present: your printed or digital e-Visa, valid passport, travel and health insurance certificate, return or onward ticket, and proof of accommodation for at least your first nights in Georgia. Border officers at Tbilisi Airport (TBS) may ask to see all or any of these.

What are the main entry points into Georgia?

Georgia’s main entry points are: Tbilisi International Airport (TBS), Kutaisi International Airport (KUT), Batumi International Airport (BUS), and land border crossings with Turkey (Sarpi on Black Sea coast), Armenia (Sadakhlo/Ninotsminda), and Azerbaijan (Red Bridge/Lagodekhi). All major entry points accept the e-Visa.
